Alaska's Best Network

Gain strength from the ground up. A reliable and secure network provides the foundation for getting connected, staying connected and enabling cloud applications. Whether voice, video or data, you’ll have the network resources to address collaboration, productivity and business continuity needs.

With leading IT capabilities and a network built for reliability, the Alaska Communications network extends across the state to the Lower 48, bringing the highest level of technology, reliability, security, and cloud enablement to Alaska businesses.

A Network Built for Reliability

As a foundation to the exchange of information, a network needs to perform in the most demanding and complex network environments in the face of unusual adversity. Alaska Communications' network is built for reliability with a fully meshed core, diversely routed connections within the state and through undersea fiber to the Lower 48. The network delivers demanding service levels across a mix of different kinds of traffic to meet the needs of businesses.

From the North Slope to the Lower 48 Network Reach

Our network is:

  • Extensively peered with other service providers for high bandwidth/low latency access
  • Extended to private and public cloud providers for new cloud capabilities with Direct Cloud Service
  • Geographically diverse undersea fiber optics connectivity from Alaska to the Lower 48
  • Expanding in Alaska using fixed wireless technology to offer high-speed, unlimited FIWI internet to rural communities.

Our network is certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), meeting Carrier Ethernet 2.0 standards. These international standards are developed and certified by an independent 3rd party.

Alaska Communications was the first company in Alaska with MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification and Carrier Ethernet Certified Professionals. In fact, Alaska Communications was second in the United States and third in the world to receive the certification, reflecting our commitment to standards and interoperability.

Businesses can operate with the trust that Alaska Communications has built their network to ensure seamless integration between client networks and leading network service providers.
