Customer Proprietary Network Information or CPNI
What is CPNI?
CPNI is information made available to us solely based on our relationship with you – and that information is protected. Such details include the services you purchase from us, including the type, destination, technical, configuration, location and amount of use of such services. The information about the telecommunications and voice (but not Internet) service we provide you and related billing information is known as Customer Proprietary Network Information or CPNI. Your telephone number, name, and address are not considered CPNI.
What do we do with your CPNI?
First and foremost, we protect it. Keeping all types of information safe is a top priority. Our Privacy Policy has long been in effect to safeguard CPNI. In addition, we follow the regulations of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), state, and federal law, also requiring us to protect your information. Your CPNI is only used by Alaska Communications and is never shared or distributed to a third party.
Second, we can use this information to better serve you as our customer. This information helps us identify additional or improved ways to serve you (our customer) as well as to identify and offer you other products and services relevant to your unique needs, but we won’t use your CPNI this way if you opt-out.
CPNI Permissions
If you would like to give Alaska Communications permission to use your CPNI, no further action is required.
If you would like to restrict your permission, you will need to “opt out”. This can be done online via your AccountView profile or by calling 800-808-8083.
Note - if you do not opt out, your consent will remain valid until we receive notice from you indicating otherwise. Restricting or opting out of CPNI will not affect the service you have with us, nor will it eliminate other types of marketing contacts.
How to change your CPNI status
- Log into your AccountView profile
- Select the Account Icon in the top right corner
- Select Privacy Preferences
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page
- Under “Restrict the Use of My CPNI” select/deselect options listed
- Click Submit
Q: If I do not opt out, how will Alaska Communications use my information?
A: CPNI is used to offer you our full range of services, plans, offers, events, promotions, and products that can enhance or improve your current service. Your CPNI is only used by Alaska Communications and is never shared or distributed to a third party.
Q: If I opt out, will I ever hear other offers about the products I already use?
A: Yes. Restricting our use of your CPNI will not eliminate other types of marketing from Alaska Communications, nor will it eliminate our use of your CPNI to offer additional services of the same type you already purchase from Alaska Communications. For example, if you have voice service with Alaska Communications, you will continue to receive marketing and service related messages regarding that service.
Q: Can I change my mind about giving permission?
A: Absolutely! You can change your CPNI permissions at any time, at your convenience, through your AccountView portal by following the instructions above. You can also call 800-808-8083 during normal business hours and we can help adjust your profile.
