    Lifeline Phone Service

    PROGRAM UPDATES

The FCC and USAC has started the Lifeline program recertification process, which was previously on hold. At the same time, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has ended. Lifeline Broadband may be available in some areas – please contact us for details and eligibility.

    Lifeline Benefits

Staying connected is essential and the Lifeline phone program gives families security and peace of mind by providing access to unlimited local calling or internet service. The Lifeline program may provide support for subscribers with a discount on qualifying monthly telephone service (up to $30.25 per month), unlimited broadband internet (30Mbps+) or bundled voice and broadband service (up to $34.25 per month).

Households meeting minimum requirements in our service area can receive affordable Basic Home Voice service with unlimited local calling or internet that’s unlimited. Participation in government assistance programs or meeting eligible household income levels may qualify you or your home for the Lifeline program.

    Recertification & Reverification

Customers must first complete an annual eligibility certification process and then order Alaska Communications service. A qualifying Lifeline discount can also apply to existing Alaska Communications services, and customers can transfer their Lifeline service to Alaska Communications at any time.

Once certified, customers maintain eligibility (and their discount) for one year. Please check the USAC website for updates, which are subject to change. Subscribers will receive a notice from the Universal Service Administration Company (USAC) to recertify their continued eligibility when necessary. Subscribers who fail to complete recertification by their adjusted deadline will be de-enrolled from the Lifeline Program and the corresponding subsidy discount. Please note: USAC is actively conducting annual verification and de-enrollments.

For additional information and the latest updates, please visit the FCC.gov Lifeline page.
