InternetNow
2.4GHz vs 5GHz
Differences in Wireless Networks
What is the difference between the InternetNow and InternetNow5G wireless network?
Both networks will provide InternetNow service, but they differ in terms of wireless frequency bands (that provide connectivity to your device).
Here’s how:
- The 2.4GHz band provides connectivity at a longer range, but transmits data at slower speeds.
- The 5GHz band provides connectivity at a shorter range, but transmits data at faster speeds.
Our InternetNow wireless network is both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency network. This wireless network will intelligently steer your device to a frequency it best sees fit, a 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency, depending on your device and the device's distance from our Access Points.
Our InternetNow5G wireless network is a 5GHz only network. If your device can see this wireless network when searching available networks to connect to, we recommend connecting to this network. Some devices will not always respond well to the changing of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Therefore, we recommend only connecting to our 5GHz network to prevent your device from having to change frequencies. If your device cannot see the InternetNow5G network, then the device you're trying to connect is not a 5GHz enabled device.
