What is the Access Recovery Charge?
The Access Recovery Charge (ARC) is a monthly federal surcharge used to support local phone networks. The ARC amount is recalculated annually and applied each year in July.
How much is the ARC?
Effective July 1, 2016, the ARC monthly surcharge is:
- $1.64 per single-line residential phone line
- $1.64 per single-line business phone line
- $1.72 per each multi-line business phone line
- The ARC does not apply to Lifeline phone lines.
Why does Alaska Communications charge the ARC?
The ARC fee helps subsidize maintenance costs associated with our phone network.
How does the ARC benefit me?
The ARC fee helps us to provide reliable service to our customers.
Is the ARC charge permanent?
The ARC is not permanent. It will be in effect through 2020.
